FAQ

  • How do you paint your pet portraits?
I paint directly from your photo(s) on a 7/8in thick wood "canvas". I use artist quality heavy body acrylics, and finish with a clear coat of sealant for extra protection against sunlight and elements. These wooden canvases can be hung directly on the wall, or stood on a shelf, mantle or other flat surface with no additional preparation needed!
  • What type of photo should I send?
As I work directly from photos, please send a clear, well lit photo in a pose similar to what you would like. The photo should be in color, and show your pets accurate coloring. Additional photos may be sent as reference to assist in capturing your pet's likeness. Photos do not need to be professional (I often work from cell phone photos), and do not need to be a clean background.
  • I want more than one pet in my portrait, do I need a photo of them together?"
No! I can work from multiple photos of your pets. It helps to have additional pictures to show size reference (in relation to your other pets). There is an additional cost for each pet in the portrait. You can learn more about pricing HERE.
  • How much is a custom pet portrait?
Size of the canvas and number of pets per portrait affect your pricing. Prices start at $175 for an 8x10 "Head and Shoulders) portrait.
  • How long does it take to complete my pet portrait?
My average turnaround time is 10 business days (does not include Saturday and Sundays) plus shipping time. If you need a specific turnaround for an event, please contact me to see if I can accomodate you in the schedule.
  • I only see portraits of dogs on your website. Do you paint other pets?
Yes! While dogs have been my main attraction for a while, I spent several years only painting birds! I have painted many other pets and am working on getting samples of these pets on the website soon.
